WINTER CAMPER

bronze, silver, golden and diamond level

  1. Conditions are valid from 15 November 1988 (Changed 2002, valid version in czech language you can find on pages KČT Horal).
  2. The badge "Winter Camper" is achieved by completing all events organised by tourist sections of the CTC (Kalendář akcí) and/or by other sports organisations.
  3. Conditions for reaching the levels:  

     

    Bronze level
    • 6 winter camping trips
    • spending no less than 8 nights camping during the winter events 

     

    Silver level
    After fulfilling the conditions for the bronze level you need:
    • 10 winter camping trips
    • one skiing tour with a tent (two nights, 45 km minimum), this may be achieved by a stay in a winter camping base (3 nights, 60 km skiing in the area surrounding the base)
    • spending no less than 17 nights camping during the winter events 

     

    Golden level
    After fulfilling the conditions for the silver level you need:
    • 12 winter camping trips
    • one skiing tour with a tent (three nights, 75 km minimum); this may be a stay in a winter camping base (4 nights, 90 km skiing in the area surrounding the base)
    • spending no less than 23 nights camping during the winter events 

     

    Diamond level
    After fulfilling the conditions for the golden level you need:
    • 28 winter camping trips
    • one skiing tour with a tent (three nights, 75 km minimum); this may be achieved by a stay in a winter camping base (4 nights, 90 km skiing in the area surrounding the base)
    • one skiing tour with a tent (four nights, 100 km minimum); this may be achieved by a stay in a winter camping base (5 nights, 125 km skiing in the area surrounding the base)
    • spending of not less than 48 nights camping during the winter events
    • no less than 10 nights of the indicated number of camping nights have to be spent in an altitude over 1000 meters
    • organising or co-operation in no less than five winter camping events for the public (such events have to be published in the calendar of winter camping events edited by the Czech Tourists' Club headquarters). 
    For obtaining the diamond badge "Winter camper" it is necessary to take part in at least 60 camping events and to spend 96 winter nights camping to achieve all conditions of all levels or to stay in a winter camping base for 100 winter nights camping. 
  4. The conditions can be achieved in the winter season from 15 November to 31 March.
  5. Winter camping must include besides spending the night in a tent, also spending the night in a snow igloo or in a bivouac.
  6. The events attended abroad, corresponding to the above mentioned conditions, can be accepted as the fulfilment of conditions for "Winter Camper" badge.
  7. The badge "Winter Camper" is awarded on the grounds of presented certificates (diploma, etc.) issued by the organisers of the event in question, indicating the number of camping nights spent. As far as the skiing tours are concerned, simple documentation is required including the public transport tickets and certificates as proof of the taken route is concerned.
  8. The skiing tours, as well as the achievement of the aforementioned conditions, are to be completed for the sake of security in a group of at least three members. In case of bad snow conditions the route can be taken on foot. For obtaining the diamond badge, it is possible to replace the skiing tours with participation in 10 other winter camping trips spending at least 20 nights camping.
  9. There is no time limit for obtaining the "Winter Camper". The badge is valid for life. Its individual levels are achieved gradually and the skiing tours may be completed in advance for the higher levels.
  10. The badge "Winter Camper" - bronze level can by achieved by adolescents under the leadership of a tourist trainer responsible safety and guidance. Teenagers cannot complete the other levels due to the sophisticated skiing tours. We award a children’s performance badge “Winter Camper” to encourage teenage activity under simplified conditions.
  11. All the levels of the "Winter Camper" badge are awarded and registered by the ski tourism section of the Czech Tourist’s Club.
